Advent Resources
As we approach Christmas morning (tomorrow!) I was jotting down some things in the notes on my phone. This is a habit I started years ago so that I can more easily plan for the year ahead. After each holiday, I make notes of things that I would like to incorporate for the next year, Bible studies that I would like to try, and new traditions I would like to start with my family. As I was jotting down some ideas for next Christmas, I started looking through some of the Advent studies that we have done in previous years, and thought I would share those! For more basic Bible study resources, we LOVE The Bible Project. They have a website https://bibleproject.com/ and youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@bibleproject, and podcast! They have so many amazing studies that our whole family loves! Another podcast that we listen to is the BEMA podcast on iTunes. Similar to Bible Project in that they view and read the Bible through the lense of the eastern world, the way the Bible was first recorded. For Advent studies, we have done Jenny Nanninga's study called "The Good Shepherd, a simple Advent." She can be found on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/bloom.wild.schoolhouse/ and Etsy https://www.etsy.com/listing/1113896899/the-good-shepherd-an-advent-guide?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=advent+study+the+good+shepherd+wild.bloom.schoolhouse&ref=sr_gallery-1-20&organic_search_click=1. We've also used Biola University's Center for Christianity, Culture, and the Arts Advent study. It is very involved and probably not great for littles, but very moving and impactful. Thad and I have also been reading through Eugene Peterson's The Message translation of Psalms in the mornings.
